  • I’m trying to work on my self, now that I’m another year older.  Like I should step up and be more of a grown-up, not just do what I want all the time.  At recorder today they told me about Flylady.net so I joined and now my sink is clean.  I didn’t go out and buy bleach like I was supposed to but I used some new green product I’d bought and didn’t know what to do with.  That’s half my trouble is that I can never decide which cleaning product to use and, since I am scared of them all, I don’t.

I gave myself extra points for not being so perfectionistic about it and just getting the job done.  But maybe that was the whole point; that it be perfect.  I like that the woman takes a very psychological viewpoint, wanting us to love ourselves in the reflection of the shiny sink.  It’s all about baby steps so it doesn’t seem so scary to sign up.  So far I’ve committed to getting dressed to lace-up shoes I think she calls them.  She thinks it’s important and connected to the disarray, so each morning I must get up and get beautiful, wearing nice shoes.  Then we’re supposed to read two minutes of material on her website and in the next few days I’m to make post-its for my bathroom sink and kitchen sink.  I have no idea what I’ll be writing there.

All ready it has spilled over into other areas like instead of the holding pattern I have for clothes that I’ve worn once, either hanging on cupboard doors to air the smoke out or folded on top of the hamper in case I want to wear them for yardwork, I just put them in the hamper because they are dirty.  Duh.

  • I think I’d be a bit more enthusiatic about cleaning when I find a riding vacuum cleaner.

  • I used to sub to Flylady and suggest it to my overwhelmed sellers so that they can declutter and keep their house clean in short order. It takes devotion. This barefoot Texas girl couldn’t get into the shoe mode! I loved the psychology of the sink. It does get you to thinking. On the downside….you get slammed with emails but you can unsub to them. Oh, and their cleaning items are supposed to be tried and true ….like the feather duster. I say,…..go for it!

  • a late happy happy day!

i have never heard of flylady…huh…

  • I can be happy with a dirty sink:)

  • I pay little attention to my space, or my clothes, but I do do better when I feel in control.

  • The older I get the messier my house seems to get..I sorta enjoy the freedom of not having a hubby to make me think everything has to be in perfect order…marilyn

  • I’m still working to improve my skills related to hampers, cabinets, and closets . . .

  • Shiny baby steps. I’ll look at this flylady and probably not sign up, but ideas are good Happy Birthday, again!

  • Pru..yes Dave and I live together..I was referring to when I was married before and his expectations of everything in a neat and orderly fashion… Also, yes, I do keep those little pumpkins in the house for over 2 months and they do finally rot or really most of them just turn to gorde like hardness.  They are actually very hard shelled right now as they are decorative in nature..marilyn

  • I was a flybaby for a while. I liked it, but I’m a Born Organized, so it was a little superfluous. Plus I got sick of the sink thing. But I highly recommend it.

  • I have that same holding pattern. That is a cycle I will happily bust. I will have to check out this site.
