  • Sun!  We’ve got sun!  I took Bridget to the park and she ran her ass off.  I love how she is with other dogs, kind of like me at a party.  Except that she’s more of a pistol and she gets a little too worked up.  There was a young doxie who started making playful gestures.  I wouldn’t say aggressive except that when you take on a dog five times your size, you’ve got some moxie.  So Bridget gets into it and pretty soon the dog who had been running with her, trying to catch her — When I show up at the park if there’s a dog who can really run, the two of them immediately find each other — he gets jealous and starts barking at Bridget and this pint-sized thing.  This unnerves the doxie and riles Bridget, who picks up on the sudden insecurity.  Frolicking turns to taunting.  I HATE this about my dog.  And I believe it’s my fault for letting her have so much power around here.  It’s hard to get her attention when she gets crazed like that.  I had to race over there and use my cane to encourage her in a different direction, like a sheepherder.  It came in handy but I wondered what the onlookers thought.  Not that I give a shit, really.  I took the cane to protect my knee from the irritating habit Bridget has of leading whatever dog is chasing her, over to wrestle under my feet.  One or both of them crash into my bad knee so now I place the cane in front of my knee just in case.

I’m going to go pick up fir bows while the sun’s still out.

  • Our weather has flipped! You have sunshine, we have rain and LOTS of it!

  • How I wish we had sun, or rain.  We have the overcast days of depression.  And the humidity is returning.

  • Glad to see you getting some sun. Take care of that knee.

  • maybe she needs pet therapy

  • You are wise and benevolent – and full of moxie. Nothing wrong with a little Bridget-herding. I would have loved to be one of the onlookers. It reminds me of the dogpark in a big field near the house of my aunt and uncle in north Denver. I stayed with them one summer to watch their three kids, my cousins, while they were at work. I miss the mountains.

  • This business about paying money is something that I cannot talk about, but, I am working up a real hatred, all the self-hating Jews out there and a bunch of other people, one of them made a diagnosis of me as bipolar and posted it on my blog, I deleted it and I deleted a few subscriptions- and one subscriber.  The one who told me to “reel it in”.

  • Oh, I miss the sun. It’s so cold here right now – we had such warm weather a week ago and now we have snow again. Sigh!

  • hmmm…. maybe bridget is lonely! are they pack dogs? i don’t know that breed at all.

  • Sounds like you need an obediance class. My sister took her dog to one and that dog would stay where she put her until the command to come was given, it was quite productive.

RYC: You paint such vivid pictures of all you do, how can I not see the trolling, the frolicing, the strolling, the people watching?  You give so much of yourself in your posts, it’s just a delight to follow the story…marilyn

  • Even a little sun outside this time of year invigorates me. Glad to hear the effective use of the cane prevented any unscheduled dog fights or knee jabbings. That thing may be a great tool to have around even after your knee is better.

I only got half way at lunch. Sheesh. I am slow these days. I’m studying for comprehensive examinations in additon to work these days. Ugh, whine, and sigh.
