Hi, just popped in for a sec. I feel so guilty, like when you don’t have time to call someone back. But I gotta get back out there before the rain comes. I’m looking for mushrooms in my back yard. I saw a show about truffles and I think I might have some. It was like everything else that’s come flooding my way since I signed up for NaNoWriMo. I’m in the mood for a silly movie so I click on theater or whatever it is and the only listings that come up are for later. I try twice. I thought I must be crazy and spent probably ten minutes trying to figure out the problem. The only thing I could manage to get was to this cooking show. All about truffles in Oregon. Weird, huh.
I’m on a fast track with the herbal scene. I keep attending more and more lectures with my daughter. And now we’re cooking with herbs. Last night we tucked lavendar inside the skin of a whole chicken and put whole lemons inside the cavity along with more lavendar. We made a soup, too, but I gotta go. Oh, and if you haven’t already guessed, I’m a complete failure this go-around. I lay in bed at night and think of something and that get’s written down, and I carry my notebook all over the place and write things on the run but that’s about the extent of it. I haven’t played with the blue bar once. I have a really strong sense that I should be out in my yard gathering up roots and berries. I’m still learning about what’s out there and what I’m supposed to do with it all.
I’m out. I can’t remember who says that but I always like it.

It’s me…who says that!
Oh man, today I feel like fighting. And it’s not even Saturday nite.
This Nano is gonna either kill me or refine me. Lordy, I hope it’s the first.
Lata…I’m out
So how was the chicken??
the herb thing sounds good…the whole thing…:)
it sounds like you are having a great time and maybe the time to be quiet and write will be this winter when it’s dark early and cold and damp out! maybe?
Thank you…this should be interesting.Frrankly the pink doesn’t sit right with me eigther..but this was just as an experiment…this would be one I tucked away in a closet:)…but Then who knows someone may really dig the pinkk:)…hope the nano is going well…Mia Lucia…oh I am posting this on my site too to ease folks minds about not loking it….( when the artist doesn’t its prettyy much ok not to like it,,,,I have jeard from others that my stuff sometimes grows on people..but not always
I wish I had taken typing..and that could remember to check post before sending…sorry
Maybe, just maybe, you are doing exactly what you should be doing right now. There will be other Novembers. There will be long winter evenings when your pen and paper just seem to produce words for you. Go with what works for you.
Truffles? Interesting. That’s something I know nothing about and I’ll probably spend the rest of my night trying to learn something about them. I have managed to find some chanterelles!! I used to pick them when I was a kid and got such a kick out of finding them on the other side of the country! Tasty stir fry that night!
My God….thank you. Thank you for what you wrote. You brought very real tears to my eyes.
…i think i’d rather go on a fast for a month than do nanowrimo…maybe sit on a deerstand in the bush for a month…hell, even recline in an underground sarcophagus…then again, maybe it’s a good aide to get the words flowing more easily than you or i are naturally able to…
(lol, i think your last comment was an unintentional insult. i wrote that yesterday ABOUT a year ago. i often shift into different time period perspectives in my writing)
it was an evil “she-therapist” and she decided, after four years of therapy, that my problem was that i watched too much tv. simply not true, but i guess when you have no one to contradict you, you can get away with murder….
Glad you popped in–but you had me feeling guilty thinking you were out there writing away madly on NaNoWriMo. Mine has been an utter failure and there’s just too much going on to pay attention. Last year’s was much better writing and much better plot. I think I should pick it back up (non nano) and just keep plugging away at it. Enjoy the truffles and herbs and all that.
thanks for the vote of confidence… i needed it today… editing always brings out the doubt in my ability to write anything worth selling… sigh!
to be honest my sense of color may be inpaired..i have what folks refer to as a tendency to be ‘ eccentric “..my taste is just a little out there….I am glad you like the pink though…when I’m really old I’ll still be wearing gyspie clothes….. I don’t think we earned our long marriage…we really were just lucky to marry each other.
ryc: right back at ya! And thanks – very sweet. Yum – lavendar and lemon chicken…mmmm. And so healthy! About that writing…just do it! You can! :>)
I love herbs and harvesting them and cooking with them. Rosemary in my yard grows well and has endured the drought. It endures everything! It seems that you’re on to other things. Miss ya! But it is good to get away. Yes, the cold is on the mend and I’m 8 days away from my trip! I told Carlito….”slap me if I get a serious moment, or angry or stressed.” He said…”no way will those things happen…we’re going and to not worry about anything.” He’s such a great traveling companion…safe, too. Someone suggested that perhaps we could get back on track (we lived together abou 4-5 years). Don’t know about that, but I know what I’m sure of and we WILL
fun!!!…Don’t know what I did…hit the wrong key and it saved and then returned to my site. These machines are wierd. Hugs….Lana
I give respect to anyone doing the NaNo writing.
This sounds interesting, lavender in chicken. Was it good? I love the smell of lavender but never tasted it.
You were saying I was brave for bringing up beastiality, well, I will talk about anything , but not that in deep detail or context, it was just a comical part of Boston Legal that night.
I never know about featured content , my daughter will say, mother you are on featured content, so I say ok. I guess I have alot of time on my hands to visit all over. I went to look one night at the featured when I was on , it was me and a bunch of kids, some of them young girls showing their bodies.
What a wrong way for young people to get attention.
I hope you have a nice wekend, and continue on with your book. Good luck. You’ll make it .I just bet.
Peace and Love:)
Pru, long time no post. Interesting all the herbs and hunting for mushrooms. You need to be extremely careful of mushrooms though since the wrong kind can kill ya. Be careful.

Whenever i see someone bitching & moaning about being sick i point them to the second entry in my REVIEWS section…lot of secret stuff on my site
Do what your passion demands. The chicken and lavendar and lemon sounds divine! It’s good to see you posting here. I’m selfish; I don’t want to see you do poorly with your Nanowrimo thing, but I miss you!
wait, i say that! “peace, im out”

i forgot who said that WE must be crazy if we think the cosmos line up just to control out lives…and when i DO look @ horoscopes it’s usually at the end of the day to see what didn’t happen to me

RYC: Feverfew doesn’t even begin to handle my migraines. I’ve got an extra-mega-duty case. That’s why I go to a special clinic for them. I tried all the herbal and natural remedies first. Nothing worked. Now he the doctor gives me Botox shots every three months and that has reduced my migraines by 70 percent. Anyway, feverfew only works for about 60 percent of people with migraines and only if they get mild ones. I’m way past that. Thanks, anyway.
Oh, cooking with lavender, how french, how provencal. I’m going to throw some in the next batch of bread I bake, just to see how it tastes.
So glad to hear the planets are aligning. Coincidence is not in my vocabulary.
I had this weird mental image of you in the moonlight, scavenging for mushrooms in someone else’s backyard
yum, how did the chicken turn out then? Go with what is pulling you- the herbs. I know there is a pretty good school down in California for herbology- I once was very interested.
Started on a new thing today called “probiotics” and it sounds like it will cure the worst of my worst. The herbs sound great. I raise Rosemary and love the smell and taste….Knight can only take it in small quantities…But a pork roast with rosemary and garlic is a delight to the palate!
My aunt made a roasted a turkey one time for me that had whole oranges and apples in it… Hmmmmm!!!… It was the best!

ryc: sounds heavenly. I’m envious
RYC She is one of two. Naomi’s mom is the other. The food you describe makes me hungry…I should really learn to cook.
passing through and read your post on mushrooms may i suggest that you be very careful unless you know a lot about mushrooms my bride was nurse for years and she had people to come in that had eaten the wrong kind and were flown to a major hospital to die with no cure known to man. i am about your age and lived in the country all my life and have eaten about every wild edible plant but i stay away from mushrooms good luck
johnny in south carolina
terribly interested in your herbal progress. If you feel free enough to put me in protected id be honored.Ill check you out here anyway..Thanks, Juliet
We have oyster mushrooms here and we pick the wild ones at this time of the year. I ate some fried yesterday. Delicious. Was it really truffles in your back yard…that is VERY cool! Reminds me of a friend who got some cedar shavings from a local stable to add to his compost pile. As it all decomposed he saw mushrooms sprouting everywhere…and they looked like Morels. He took some to the local university for verification and sure enough, he had an impressive harvest of Morel shrooms
