Yup, I did it. Last year, my first, I was reluctant but for different reasons. This year I know what I’m getting into and realize how much of a commitment it is. But this year I have last year’s novel under my belt and this year’s a third of the way done. I just can’t wait to see that blue bar again. Last year I ceased worrying about getting the full 1600 words a day done and let myself edit. Not sure how I’ll operate this year.
I have been attending financial classes on Wednesday nights, and I can’t tell you what a c__t this teacher is. I went tonight, even though it was about mutual funds, which I have no interest in now, just to see her in action again. First, take into consideration that she’s a broker. Then figure in that she’s way smarter than the average. Add to that a big weight problem and you have an ultra-aggressive person with a chip on her shoulder.
Her goal is to confuse, along with making investing seem really hard and scary. Another thing she does is discount other firms and shows like “Mad Money,” my new favorite. TonyTovar, if you’re reading, what show do you recommend? I can’t seem to get up at 5:00a.m. Anyway, one of the husbands (there are lots of husband/wife teams) called her out on some of this and — This was the most interesting thing she did — she perked up. Maybe I’m psychic but I swear it was like she knew something was coming and she was glad to have it over with. She sailed right on by it and you could tell she blithely deals with pissed-off people all the time; doesn’t pay any mind to it. She digs the power. I bet she gets off on people’s anger. Yeah, maybe that was it. The guy WAS a pretty big asshole, the way he went about it.
Sooo, that’s about all I’ve been up to. My ex is engaged ( yeah, Marcie, he popped the question while they were walking on the beach. I’m dying to know if he’s having her sign a prenup) I’m meeting with him to sign the final papers on the beach lot in two weeks and for some reason I’m wanting to look my best. Up to now he’s been leaving all the paperwork in his mailbox so we haven’t seen each other for a year or so. I’ve been dreaming about him lately, the way he used to be. I wouldn’t be surprised if he were dreaming about me, too. Because I’m getting a lot of energy coming from his direction.
Go sign up for Nano. The fun begins at the stroke of midnight on Halloween.

Right on… more power to you. I did NaNoWriMo a couple of years ago. I’m considering it, but it seems unlikely I can put the time into it.
I signed up in the first week itself. This is the first time and I am excited and nervous. But still I want to give it (and me ) a try.
I’m doing it!!! I cannot wait.
i’ve decided not to do it this year – for a variety of reasons….
ps- look really good so he knows he screwed up!
i write way too slow to do that contest thing
Im gonna do it.Thanks!
Don’t you just know when they are dreaming of ya? I do.

Maybe I COULD do the comic novel–you know, the hen lit one–for NaNaNoNo or what ever it is. Can you give me the Web site. 1,600 words a day is not hard and I know I could do that. It’s the days that I have to spend on my son and the birthdays and Thanksgiving that are the problem. I suppose I have to do 3,200 the day before!
Don’t worry about the ex. It’s much better when they get married. Trust me on this. Then they stop hassling you for every little thing (if there are kids involved) and they are happy and in a good mood. No more angry calls and hanging up on you. I got married a year and a few months after my ex got married, so it also could be the harbinger of a good thing for you, Prudy. Celebrate the happiness for him and happiness may descend upon you. (I’m in a gratitude and blessings mode lately. I know it’s not cynical and cool, but that’s where I am.)
RYC: thanks for your good wishes. I Googled the guy and he looks legit. We’ll see what happens. My agent is taking so damn long to respond, but she’s in a different time zone (yours) and it’s hard for me to wait. I’d be even more nuts if I lived on the East Coast.

Wow. I didn’t think I was out of the loop for all intents and purposes for that long, but I see I have some catching up to do! As ever, your ‘splice of life’ witty, interesting, brilliantly written. From heavy stockbrokers to prenups & ex’s upcoming weddings, from classes, you are a learner, ever open, I love that, to NANO. I am so happy that it’s next month, not this. Because I am online again (ecstatically so), and can have another go. I did pass the finish line last year, and printed out the book I wrote, but still haven’t seriously edited it yet. I need a laser printer for that, with a full toner! I think this year I want to try writing a series of mediations rather than a narrative per say, although the latter is far easier to write. Doubtful I’ll make the finish line with it this year, but just getting as much done as I can will be a boon, blessing, take the load of guilt over not doing it off my back…..
Hugs, glad to be back with internet on my own computer where I am living 24/7! xoxo
What is Nano and how do you sign up? Linky please. . .
Also, what are the titles of your books, and what genre?
I just read your comment at Shahrazad’s blog and your ex gave you bad info on the Midwest, which I am quick to defend. People use idioms all over the country. Just go to Texas sometime! And idioms are okay for writers. It’s clichés that are bad. There is a big difference. “Hide nor hair” is not particularly clever, but I don’t think it would give an editor seizures, either, especially if you were writing about a person who is prone to using folkloric language.
Just my two cents.

I’m going to google NaNoWrMo. I don’t know what it is but I know it has something to do with writing. I know I have limited time to write now..but perhaps one day when I inherit and can get some serios good help for several hours a day…
You must be a born writer because you have the ability to detach for needed distance and really observe the dynamics within a group.and how people react. Lots of people don’t distance themselves enought to see the forest for the trees. I think it makes sense to want to look good when you sign those papers…looking good is comforting …..
Good luck with the nano. I first heard about that via one of jeff’s co-workers, then saw it here, last time with you. Frightening, but likely exhilerating at the same time.
I always find it odd when the ex remarries. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s like a true death then, dunno.
What is this “nano” that you speak of? And speaking about a full moon…it wasn’t cause interestingly enough we went out to look at it last night.
I signed up. Last night I dreamed that I was trying to write (with a keyboard) and drive the car at the same time. I hope I’m not taking on too much…
Don’t you have a DVR? That’s a real blessing when it comes to shows you want to watch but either aren’t available when they’re on or you just can’t stand commercials. Also – how sweet that you’re partaking in the writing contest – I’ve seen that and as a writer with several novels (unpublished sadly) under my belt, I’m intimidated by the speed. Good luck! :>) Oh yes, ryc: I was talking about Atomic Fireballs – the hot cinnamon candy – a large Jawbreaker-sized hard candy ball with the super-hot intensity of cinnamon…yum! My favorite.
Prudy, Can you give me information on the novel you have under your belt? How can I get a copy?
I’ve been wishing my ex would remarry for years. He came close once. He seems to be happy but I think he’d be happier remarried. Fortunately, we’re friends, so there’s virtually no negative energy there to disrupt my dreams (I dream about other weird and disturbing things instead).
People teaching who can’t teach or teachers with attitudes piss me off. I do wish I was motivated to pay more attention to my mutual funds, though.
So have you seen this? Just thought, since you’re into bellydance, this post might be of interest.
You want to look your best so your ex can see what he’s going to miss 4ever
As they say, you go girl!
I am hopeless with money. Mine is with a finance company owned by friends. Or it was. The friends are now sueing each other and my lawyer (who has his money elsewhere) is representing one of them. They both went to him and he chose not the one whom he thought was in the right, but the one who would pay him fastest. Lawyers, in my extensive experience, are mostly the kind of people the jokes make them out to be. So great, what now?
I dream about both my exes…it’s annoying and a waste of perfectly good dreams. Sometimes they are mixed together as one big ex. ick!
That class sounds like something I would like just to watch the people…
BE blessed!

I tried NaNoWriMo last year and didn’t get much written because life was a turmoil then. I re-signed. This year I am a little more settled, so I hope to accomplish something — as long as I don’t have to keep working temp for my sister/bil’s practice. I know I am meant to write. It’s just settling down to do it.
I made it halfway last year. It was the first fiction I’d written since high school. I kept trying to pick it up after that but didn’t get too far. I just printed it out and stuck it in a folder to make sure I woudln’t lose it. I half an idea for this one but haven’t signed up yet. Our schools are closed a week at Thanksgiving and I’m hosting it this year…. Can I write in all that?
Good luck, Prudy, I saw this on another site.
I have no desire for trying it im not too good at fininshing thngs i write or start to write.
Halloween, love it. I wanna be a brown recluse this Halloween.
I think I have it in me , the recluse part.
Peace and Love:)
Jeri’s right, of course. Look good so he’ll know how stupid he is, but do it for you, too. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one to dream about exes, even if I am happily married now. And peace and love, too! Good luck with this year’s novel.
Well I signed up for NaNoWriMo, we shall see what I come up with! Marilyn
I’m thinking of starting up a (mostly) duplicate site, but don’t know how to find anyone interesting to read…
RYC Thanks…I felt good about the piece because it is such a simple but powerful memory…thats probably why it was so easy to share..still the compliment is most appreciated
RYCs: When I get a picture up (which should happen before Wednesday, I hope), you’ll see how well rounded (not skinny) I am. It’ll be fun
Morning, Prudy,
Thanks for your comments, I am nothing or no one special, as for featured ,, weird lol.. there I am among so many kids, some nude pics of young girls, was funny.
If you do write about your worst expierience, maybe it would help? Then again it may be too painful.,which I understand.
Happy Sunday
Peace and Love:)
I don’t see well and I deleted your comment by accident..but I read it. You are always welcome to just come and read topics of interest at the ring.Thank you for reminding me about privacy issues. They are quite important.I have talked to Joseph and he understands but other people with challenges might not. One solution for some people might be to post so that they and their children’s identity can be shielded. It is difficult to deal with some issues if they are of a nature that carries stigma or if not readily understood outside of the community that must deal with them. I used to work in situations where there are ( rightfully so )very strict laws about confidentiality. We could not discuss a client or student with anyone other then those directly involved. Sometimes something funny would happen at work..and it wouuld make a harmless story but if i shared it at home with my husband I not only did not identify the person but I obscured their gender. Life can be hard for all parents of kids in transition. I have a healthy twenty year old son off at college getting ready to be twenty one…I sure didn’t need to read all those hangover stories..LOL…
Time is of the essence: what is nano? Why at midnight on Halloween?
I have no clue whatsoever in finance things and I’d certainly would never like to actually be involved in it. I’d end up being the terrified student that she’s trying to scare. They do sound a bit like hypocrites though.
I’ve never understood prenups, more like my parents don’t have them so they’ve never explained anything beyond that point. If you do feel a lot of energy coming from him and both of you, in my perspective, have the connection then why did both of you divorce each other? Sorry for being nosy.

I’m not sure what you mean by show exactly but I love watching CNN a lot. Honestly the best way to learn is through the interenet. Like for instance I love reading Discussion boards on stock picks etc. Paper trade at first to see if the style fits your needs though. I love reading blogs like this one http://www.xanga.com/bobsadviceforstocks, great stuff! And always listening to what people have to say because its either you eat or get eaten in the market. There are some crazy shows out there that deal strictly with people calling in asking about stock but why ask when you can learn and develope your own formula… All it takes is the will to learn and listen, listen BIG TIME.
Hope that helps
Sorry im just now catching up with your xanga. Test suck!
