  • I just did the math and I’m behind by 1,386 words.  But I spent the day with my youngest so that’s more important.  I tried to sit down tonight and crank out as much as I could but I just can’t do it any more.

It’s funny about the difference between blogging and Nanoing.  When I go back and read one of my posts, I have a sense of  how much I like or don’t like the words or the tempo or whatever.  And who cares, it’s just a post.  But when I go back and read parts of my book, I can’t really get a feel for how good it is or isn’t.  I’m not sure why that would be.  Maybe because I’ve been walking around all these months thinking about what the characters would be doing and saying and now I can’t separate myself from it to get a good enough view.  I bet that’s it.

  • I’m behind by 6 days now–haven’t started yet, I actually completed it last year, but I’ve been working too much lately to even try to develop the idea.

Good luck! You’re not behind by much, really.

thanks for your kind comment the other day.

  • I was bullshittin’ ya about how I didn’t care ’cause it’s just a post.  I care.

  • Perhaps you feel lonely about  writing your novel. With a post on xanga you get immediate feedback and you also see other people’s posts. But I am sure you will be able to do it.

  • IRT your comment on my site: ‘We tend to wring out pleasure out of each day’ ,

Whether one believes in rebirth or not, I think that is how we all should live life, In the present! Take care of the present and the futur will take care of itself.

  • I’ve done pretty good with averaging about 1700 words a day, really my max, and then I had a very busy day and evening, and also my moon, and was too tired to burn the midnight oil, and so I’m behind now too. This is my first NaNo, we’ll see how to catch up. I’d say just proceed as you had planned, completing the number of words each day that you had originally decided on, and a day of inspiration will come, and you’ll catch up. Also, unless you have the time to also begin editing, it might be best to just write and worry about reworking it later. So often we give up just when we should have given it that extra boot and picked up speed. Keep going! And good luck!

  • Oh ho, I don’t like the term “period” and so call my monthly cycle my “moon,” as do other women – I also use cloth pads and a diva cup and try to honour my monthly cycle as an important part of my spirituality, ie a tired time, yes, but a time to go inward and reflect deeply, a prayer-full time…

  • Just goes to show that appearances are deceptive. He’s just a big kid. Thank you for the compliment.

  • I am writing and writing and writing…not at all last night, since I wanted to start my birthday with my boyfriend…which I did. *wink*

I’m not going to make a big deal out of the story, per se, since I’m just making up as I go along.

When I hit a spot and I have either no idea where this is going…or…how to transition from one idea to the next, I just let my characters ramble on a bit.

I have a nice description of a doll (I think) that is for sale in a store window…that has absolutely nothing to do with the story.  And a nice long walk on the beach…again… something I can completely leave out.  I don’t know if my story is good or not either, but I’m going to withhold judgement til December.  For now, I have words to write!

    Much Peace and Love…GFW
